    Train like Beauden Barrett

    By Jack Ward

Train like Beauden Barrett during lockdown with School Of Kicking’s FREE ‘Kick Like a Pro’ guide designed by Dave Alred.

BEAUDEN Barrett was set to make his hotly anticipated Super Rugby debut for Blues on Easter Saturday, before Covid-19 put a crack in the 28-year-old’s plans and shut down the league.

He may not have debuted at Eden Park, but Covid-19 hasn’t stopped Barrett from hitting the pitch. Here he is touching up on his kicking game and oozing class onto the Blues’ Alexandra Park headquarters:

The two-time World Rugby Player of the Year has been taking a leaf out of School of Kicking’s very own Dave Alred, to help improve his kicking game during this spell of social distancing.

Barrett said: “Great session designed by @alreddave taking the reverse repair phase to match-like situations,” Barrett posted on Instagram. “Always challenging – always in the ugly zone – but always make progress!”

For those who don’t know, Dave Alred is an elite performance coach, who is not only an expert at kicking, but a pioneer in performance psychology, and has worked with some of the biggest star names in Rugby. He is also the knowledge and brains behind School of Kicking!

This drill is just one of the many drills in SOK’s ‘Kick Like a Pro’ guide (downloadable as a free e-book). It’s designed by the SOK team, including Dave Alred himself and features the same approaches and principals that he’s used with Jonny Wilkinson, Jonny Sexton and many other players of the highest calibre.

With nobody to pass to and squad training a strict no-no, there isn’t a better time to brush up on your kicking ability than now, in a safe and isolated manor.

The ‘Kick Like a Pro’ guide is the perfect weapon to add to your egg chasing armoury and will allow you to undergo world class training whilst your league competitors are munching on their fifth Easter egg.

If the exercises are good enough to help Wilkinson secure the World Cup in 2003, or Sexton sink the French in 2017, then they’ll no doubt be able to teach you a thing or two and help to take your kicking game to the next level.
